Meza Leads Top-Four Sweep for TeamSLR in CUBE 3 TA2 Series Qualifying at VIR

As has been the case all season, TeamSLR has once again separated itself from the rest of the field in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, and it was put on display in qualifying for Sunday’s event at VIRginia International Raceway.

Helio Meza (No. 28 Alessandro’s Racing Chevrolet Camaro) was the quickest of the 30 drivers on the entry list for the CUBE 3 TA2 Series event at the 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Virginia, beating his teammates Alon Day, Matthew Brabham, and Lanie Buice for the top spot.

It’s the seventh time in 11 events this season that Meza has started at the front of the pack in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, and continues the streak of the Spring, Texas-native starting either first or second in every single one of his starts in the division.

With a lap time of 1:48.599, Meza was more than three tenths of a second faster than his closest competition in the championship battle, Alon Day, who will start in the runner-up position after laying down a 1:48.920.

Matthew Brabham, who returns to the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series this weekend in a fourth entry for TeamSLR, will start from the third position after narrowly missing the lap time of Day. Brabham is looking to make history by becoming the second driver to sweep the TA and TA2 Series classes in the same weekend – something only Connor Zilisch has accomplished.

Lanie Buice, fresh off her first National Series podium at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, will start in the fourth position completing a top-four sweep for the dominant TeamSLR. Noah Harmon rounded out the top-five in qualifying, which was swept by Chevrolet.

Graham Jacobson (No. 19 Skilled-Nation.org / Hertz Car Sales Chevrolet Camaro) picked up a career-best starting spot in sixth, with Tyler Kicera in seventh, Gian Buffomante in eighth, Adrian Wlostowski in ninth, and Gavin Gleitsman rounding out the top-10.

Keelan Harvick, making his debut in the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series for Kevin Harvick Incorporated, will start from 12th.

Cale Phillips (No. 99 Mincey’s Graphics / SNP Inc. Toyota Camry) is rising to the occasion fighting for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series PRO-AM Championship, securing the pole for the class in Sunday’s qualifying session from VIRginia International Raceway.

With a lap time of 1:51.174, Phillips was 14th overall in the CUBE 3 TA2 Series qualifying lineup and will start first of the drivers in the PRO-AM category. Jared Odrick was Phillips’ closet competition, posting a lap good enough for 17th overall, two tenths of a second off of Phillips.

Aiden Dorvee was third, with Preston Peables fourth and Patrick Paul rounding out the top-five. Doug Winston, Stephen Sauers, Christina Lam, Maciej Tuniewicz, and Bryan Scheible rounded out the 10-driver CUBE 3 TA2 Series PRO-AM Class for this weekend at VIR.
