Matthew Brabham’s bid for a second straight Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli win will begin from pole position on Sunday at Road Atlanta.
Brabham set fast time during Saturday’s Trans Am Series qualifying session in his No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang, with a time of 1 minute, 17.746 seconds around the 2.54-mile circuit. The Indianapolis, Indiana native also won the series’ season-opening event to open the month of March at Sebring International Raceway.
Like at Sebring, defending series champion Paul Menard will join Brabham on the front row. Menard clocked in at 1 minutes, 18.515 seconds in the No. 3 Pittsburgh Paints/Menards Ford Mustang.
One year ago, Brabham won the Trans Am Series event at Road Atlanta substituting for Chris Dyson in the GYM WEED Mustang, one of three victories in five Trans Am starts in 2025. Brabham is committed to a full-time championship chase in 2026 after competeing for CD Racing on an as-needed basis from 2021 to 2025.
Austrian Martin Ragginger qualified third in the No. 7 Top Liner Chevrolet Camaro, continuing the mirror reflection of the Sebring podium. Tomy Drissi was fourth-fastest, followed by Adam Andretti.
In a tightly contested fight in TA Cup qualifying, Cole Moore was just 0.013 seconds faster than Phil Fogg, Jr. Moore will lead five TA Cup cars to the green flag on Sunday in his No. 32 Chris Evans/JM Environmental Ford Mustang.
Only 0.334 seconds separated Chris Coffey and Zach Arnold in the battle for the top spot on the SGT grid. Coffey claimed the honor in the No. 97 TrafficGrafix/NAIRacing/GTEng Ferrari 458 Challenge.
Billy Griffin set fast time for the XGT division, with a lap of 1 minutes, 22.760 seconds. Jordan Bupp, who won the GT1 class at Sebring, qualified on the pole for the division with a time of 1 minute, 23.414 seconds. Derric Carter was fastest in the GT class, with his quickest lap of 1 minute, 28.711 seconds.
