Drissi Motorsports drivers and former Trans Am national and Western champions Tomy Drissi and Simon Gregg each took a turn on the podium as Trans Am by Pirelli visited Sonoma Raceway for its first doubleheader of the 2026 season. Drissi and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Petersen Automotive Museum/Motul Chevrolet Camaro took third place in Saturday’s Round 3, while Gregg and the #59 Chevrolet Camaro replicated the feat in Sunday’s Round 4.
Drissi’s path to the podium on Saturday was an exciting one. He spent the first half of the race trying to get around David Pintaric for third before they made contact on Lap 20. Both were able to continue with Drissi taking third. A hard-charging Paul Menard, recovering from an unscheduled pit stop, would catch back up to pass Drissi a few laps later, but second-place Rafa Matos would pull off with a mechanical failure just moments later to return Drissi to the podium for the second time this year.

“It’s great to be here and look at the fans and support from everybody,” Drissi said from the podium on Saturday. “The team did such a good job; this is a team podium because it was about consistency and reliability. Thanks to Trench Shoring, they’re in California, Motul, and the Petersen Automotive Museum—if you’re ever in LA, they’re at Fairfax and Wilshire, one of the best museums you can go to. (And to) Pintaric, I’m sorry, we were racing hard. He’s the nicest guy in the paddock, so apologies for getting into you.”
The second race of the weekend was Gregg’s turn to bring home the hardware. Managing his Camaro through the rigors of a doubleheader, the 2012 series champion improved upon his season-best fifth-place finish on Saturday to claim third place on Sunday. It was Gregg’s first podium in the TA class since June 2021 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and it came in just his fifth start since returning to the series as Drissi’s teammate.

“It’s been a fun weekend,” said Gregg. “Yesterday was a great race, and today it was such a surprise to get in the top three. I appreciate Trench Shoring and Drissi Motorsports; the crew has been wonderful. I’ve been with them about half a season now, and I look forward to the future!”
Thanks to their results this weekend, both Drissi and Gregg now find themselves in the top five in the TA championship. Drissi has a 14-point edge on David Pintaric for third place in the standings, while Gregg sits just six points behind Pintaric in fifth.
