Lanie Buice Looks to Continue Development with Full-Season in Trans Am
Feb 27, 2026
The starting lineup has been set for the season-opening event of the 60th anniversary season for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli at Sebring International Raceway. However, Mother Nature played a hand in how the field will line up as rain and lightning forced the cancellation of Saturday's qualifying session.
With qualifying being washed out, the starting lineup was set by Saturday morning's practice times. As a result, Michael Brabham, driving the No. 16 Gym Weed Ford Mustang, will lead the field to the green flag on Sunday morning at Sebring.
Brabham turned a laptime of 1 minute, 58.524 seconds in practice, which was enough to secure him the top starting spot in the event. Paul Menard, a former Brickyard 400 winner and two-time Trans Am champion, will start Sunday's race from the runner-up position.
Notably, while Brabham will start from the pole position, as in other forms of motorsport, he will not be credited with an official pole in the record book due to qualifying being canceled.
Brabham and Menard will be followed to the green flag by Martin Ragginger, Tomy Drissi, and David Pintaric, who will start from the fifth position.
Drivers in the TA Class swept the top-seven starting spots for Sunday's race, while Jim Guthrie will be the highest TA Cup Class competitor in the lineup. Guthrie will fire off from the eighth starting spot.
Jordan Bupp, who is set to start ninth, was the top qualifier from the GT1 Class, while Billy Griffin (13th) was the top driver in the XGT Class, and Dallas, Texas' Chris Coffee (16th) will start the race as the top SGT driver.
Live coverage of the TA/GT race from Sebring will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET. It will be streamed LIVE on Trans Am’s YouTube channel, @TheTransAmSeries, and broadcast LIVE at RacingAmerica.TV.
