Andy Jankowiak Doubles Up at Holland With Pair of Feature Wins
Jun 22, 2025
Two of the best all-around drivers in open-wheel short track racing went down to the wire on Saturday night as Owosso Speedway, as Bobby Santos, III defeated Kody Swanson by the narrowest of margins to win the Must See Racing Sprint Car Series feature race.
Santos finished 0.131 seconds ahead of Swanson, as the two battled side-by-side throughout the closing laps. Santos now has 12 career Must See Racing Sprint Car feature wins, after opening the 2025 season with back-to-back victories at Berlin Raceway and Owosso.
The two drivers are no strangers to racing against one another. For Santos, knowing Swanson was in the field of competitors Saturday night at Owosso elevated his game.
"Kody's one of the best," said Santos in victory lane. "He proves that week in and week out. Obviously, when he comes into this form of racing, everybody's got to step up their game. He forces that on everybody. We were lucky enough to get a win this time, but we'll see next time. It was close."
Swanson echoed the sentiment after his runner-up finish, expressing his trust in being able to race fiercely against Santos in the high-speed open-wheel Sprint Cars.
"Bobby and I have been racing here a long time, and he's a standout. He's the guy and been doing great in everything he drives, whether it's got wings or open wheels or Modifieds at New Hampshire. He puts it on them.
"There's two guys going for the win, driving 105 percent. Neither of us lift until the other one does on entry. To have that kind of trust that he'll leave me space on the outside and I know that I'll do everything I can for him, too. I thought we had a great race there, and through lapped traffic. I hope we put on a show, that's what we're here for."
Young Colton Bettis rounded out the podium, matching his result from last August with the Must See Racing Sprint Cars at Owosso. He acknowledged his car wasn't quite quick enough to contend with Santos and Swanson for the win, but he added to the notebook for the return visit in August.
"We really didn't have anything for them tonight. Their two cars were hooked up, and we missed it a little bit. This is what we came here for, came for a tune-up for that 10k in August."
Ryan Litt finished fourth, with Jason Blonde rounding out the top five.
The Must See Racing Sprint Car Series get back on track on Friday, July 4 at Kalamazoo Speedway. That race will be the first of three scheduled events in the month of July for the series.
