Longtime Pro Late Model front runner Flyin’ Ryan Luza will make his first ever attempt at the prestigious Snowball Derby this weekend, behind the wheel of an Anthony Campi Racing-prepared machine.

“That (Snowball Derby) entry list could not be any more loaded - so I’m stoked to be able to add my name to it,” says Luza. “It’s a race that I’ve always wanted to be a part of. We’ve been going to the Snowflake (100) for a long time and the ‘Derby’ is something that’s been steadily moving up my bucket list for as long as I’ve been racing.

“I feel like I’m in a real good place with Anthony (Campi) and his guys. He’s built an incredible program and I have no question that we’ll be able to unload with a car that can put us in a position to contend. At this point, the driver just needs to keep up with the car”

While Luza has had a fair amount of success with his Pro Late Model endeavors including the 2015 Pro Late Model Championship at 5 Flags Speedway, competing with the best Super Late Model racers in the country will be a brand new challenge for the Texas-based racer.

“I’m feeling like I’m headed for battle,” says Luza. “You can’t look at it any other way. There aren’t many entries headed to Pensacola that don’t have equipment that can contend. It’s truly the best of the best. It’s a huge test for me and, I know, that any position I come home with is one that I had to earn.”

Whilst only making a handful of starts in recent years, Ryan utilized the ever growing iRacing platform as a way to stay sharp while out of the seat and was crowned the iRacing World Champion in 2017.

“iRacing has been key for me to stay prepared and agile,” Luza said. “We raced a couple times earlier this year and showed great speed and perseverance each time. The Snowball (Derby) is going to be by far the biggest race of my career and I’m thankful to have the opportunity to prove myself against the best in North America.”

Ryan Luza’s 2022 Snowball Derby campaign in the Anthony Campi Racing No. 18 is supported by AMS Roofing, Nouveau Elevator, BAJA and John Luza Jr. Anthony Campi Racing (ACR) has established itself as one of the most successful driver development teams in Late Model racing today.

Fueled by a passion for racing and winning, ACR believes that to achieve success in higher levels of racing, drivers must enter the racing scene as prepared as possible and mentally driven to be one step ahead of their competition.

The 55th Annual Snowball Derby weekend kicks off on Wednesday, November 30th with the Pepperjack Kennels Green Flag Party, presented by The Tool Shack Chili for Charity Qualifying Order Draw Down.
