Salem, IN (September 13, 2022) – After a four-year hiatus, two very popular events are making their return to the Winchester 400 Weekend Presented by Vore’s Welding & Steel in 2022. The “New Star” Features for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS and Van Hoy CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be raced on Friday night, October 14th. The only eligible drivers for these races will be drivers or teams that have not had a top 5 feature finish in 2022 at Winchester or a top 3 feature finish at Winchester in their respective divisions or higher, going back to 2007. Drivers who are primarily known for racing in higher divisions will also not be allowed to drop down regardless of their previous finishes. CRA officials reserve the right to deny participation in these events to anyone to maintain the integrity of the event and ensure a quality show for the promoter.

The payout for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman special New Stars 20 lap event will be: $400-250-200-175-150-125-100-90-80-75 on out. The payout for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock special New Stars 20 lap event is $300-200-175-150-125-110-100-90-80-70-60-50 on out.

On Saturday October 15th’s Season Championship 40 lap Features for the CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks, a "First Timer’s Bonus" program will be paid to the top three finishers in each division who are making their first start at Winchester Speedway in 2022 (Friday’s activities excluded). The bonuses are paid on top of the position payoff they earn, and will be $100, $50, and $30.

“The New Stars Features on Friday of Winchester 400 Weekend have been a lot of fun in the past, it’s great to get them back on the schedule for this year’s Winchester 400 Weekend,” commented CRA’s Glenn Luckett. “It’s a great way to see new faces competing for a victory at Winchester and it’s also a great way for people with limited experience at Winchester to come and get some really good racing experience without the pressure of racing against some of the veteran series racers.”

Luckett further noted, “We also have bonus money on the line for Saturday’s Championship features in both divisions for people that haven’t raced at Winchester this year. If you haven’t raced at Winchester this year, it’s the perfect time to come race, earn extra money and be a part of the legendary Winchester 400 Weekend.”
