Jan 23, 2024
Team Hornaday Development has announced that driver Isaac Kitzmiller and his father, Jason Kitzmiller, will compete in the Grand National Super Series season opener at New River All American Speedway on Saturday, March 23.
Isaac will pilot the No. 10 for CR7 Motorsports and Jason will drive the No. 97 for A.L.L. Construction Racing in the National Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram 250.
This race will mark the first time that Isaac and Jason have competed against each other in a Grand National Super Series stock car, after previously competing in go-karts and Legends cars over the past few years.
“I am very excited, but also nervous,” Jason Kitzmiller said. “I just want him to run all 75 laps and get the experience. Never in my wildest dreams when I was younger did I think I would be racing at this level, let alone being able to share the experience with my youngest son. Needless to say, I am a very blessed man.”
Isaac is also “very excited” to race with his father on Saturday. He shared that he is ready for the race, despite the change from his usual Legend car.
“I have some confidence going into this new car because I tested one in February and showed speed,” Isaac Kitzmiller said. “All American is a very unique track, but the most challenging thing is going to be not spinning the tires on exit. My goal is to run all 75 laps and mainly just learn every time I hit the track.”
Confidence and eagerness are two traits both Kitzmiller’s share heading into the GNSS season opener.
“We were very competitive in the select events we ran last year and won a race at Dominion,” Jason said. “The CR7 crew has spent a ton of energy and time on my car in the offseason and have several different things we plan to try this year. All American is a very unique track and it is somewhat shaped like a large “D”. It is really tough on tire wear too.”
The key to success for this father-son duo this weekend is patience.
“Patience will be critical to be there at the end of the race as you don’t want to use your tires up early and have nothing left at go time,” Jason Kitzmiller said.
The Kitzmillers would like to thank the following organizations for their assistance: A.L.L. Construction Racing, CR7 Motorsports, Joe Ryan Race Cars, A.L.L. Construction, Grant County Mulch, Bobby Robert’s Logging, A & J Excavation and Team Hornaday Development.
