The time came, and the people gathered for the 40th annual Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200! The People’s Race brought people from far and wide, including over 100 drivers from across New England and even the Canadian province of Quebec for a chance at the $3,000 grand prize and immortality as an Enduro winner at the Nation’s Site of Excitement.

The rk Miles Street Stocks started off the Sunday night action with over thirty-one teams set up to take on their annual 50-lap special. Following heat race qualifying action, the rains poured on over Thunder Road and soaked out the track and grounds with drenching rains. With continued heavy rain and lightning in the area, officials decided to pull the plug on the Street Stocks and push their 50-lap Bolduc Metal Recycling Special to start next Thursday’s racing action.

Over 100 home-built machines took to a three-wide start on the Barre highbanks as soon as lightning cleared the area. The three-abreast start quickly turned to chaos under the green flag as cars flew across the wet racing surface, only adding to the thrills for driver and race fan alike!

By the halfway point it was clearly a two man race between former Enduro champions Brandon Gray and Alby Ovitt. Both used patience and skill to motor their way inside and outside of slower cars and the natural-built chicanes of fallen competitors, their machines wasted by time, damage and their fellow competition. Thirty-laps later, Gray’s Volvo wagon was sending steady white smoke through the front grill while Ovitt jumped pitside for attention and new tires.

While Gray’s smoke called for an early end, Ovitt’s new tires aided him to the end. Hauling over from New Hampshire, Alby Ovitt claimed his second Bolduc Metal Recycling Enduro 200 victory by two laps over White Mountain Motorsports Park Mini Late Model hot-shoe Garrett LaBounty!

Community College of Vermont Night is on tap for Thunder Road this Thursday, August 8 with the added Bolduc Metal Recycling Street Stock Special for twin 50 specials on Thursday! Community College of Vermont Night is also headlined by the annual Road Warrior Challenge; a 50-lap test of man and machine in the popular entry division of Thunder Road!
