Denny Hamlin earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap Award in NASCAR Cup Series competition at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, while Chase Elliott and Layne Riggs also earned Fastest Lap honors over the course of Pocono weekend.
Hamlin set the fastest lap of The Great American Getaway 400 before finishing second to teammate Chase Briscoe. Hamlin clocked in at 52.592 seconds on lap 122 of the 160-lap race.
Hamlin led 32 laps during Sunday's race, pursuing his fourth win of the year and the eighth Pocono win of his career. He now holds the most Xfinity Fastest Lap awards in the Cup Series with four. Hamlin previously won the award at Martinsville, Charlotte and Nashville.
Chase Elliott earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap award during Saturday's Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Elliott registered a lap of 54.741 seconds on lap 77.
As he is a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series, Elliott did not earn the bonus point for the Xfinity Fastest Lap. It is the second time the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports team has earned the bonus point towards the owner's standings, as Kyle Larson claimed the award at Bristol.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series winner Layne Riggs also picked up the Xfinity Fastest Lap in the MillerTech Battery 200. Only a third-place finish in the second stage prevented Riggs from earning max points in the race, as he also won the first stage.
Riggs clocked in at 54.338 seconds on lap 63 of the event en route to his first win of the season. It was Riggs' second Xfinity Fastest Lap of the season. Previously, he won the award in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.
The NASCAR National Series split up this weekend. The Cup Series and Xfinity Series head to EchoPark Speedway, competing on Friday and Saturday, June 27-28. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series makes its inaugural visit to Lime Rock Park on Saturday, June 28.
