William Byron has signed a four-year contract extension to remain at Hendrick Motorsports through the 2029 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Byron, 27, currently sits second in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series standings. He won his second consecutive Daytona 500 victory to start the year, the youngest multi-time winner in the event's history.

The Daytona 500 victory marked Byron's 14th career win in the premier series of NASCAR. He has reached the playoffs in six consecutive seasons, a streak which will undoubtedly continue this year.

“We’ve built something special with the No. 24 team,” said Byron. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue working with amazing people at Hendrick Motorsports who believe in me, especially Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick. We’ve accomplished some great things that we’re really proud of, but we have even bigger goals ahead. I’m excited to go after them with this team and this organization.”

Byron first signed with Hendrick Motorsports in 2016 at the age of 18, and earned Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors in 2018. Since then, the Charlotte, North Carolina driver has been a perennial playoff contender.

Byron has been part of the Championship 4 each of the last two seasons, continuing the proud legacy of the No. 24 team started by Jeff Gordon.

“William is the real deal,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “What makes him so special is that he combines natural ability with an unrivaled work ethic. You see it in the great ones – the drivers who could get by on talent alone but choose to outwork everyone anyway. That’s William. On top of it all, he’s a person of high character and embraces his role as a leader. We’re proud to have him in our lineup and look forward to many more wins together.”

Byron will seek another crown jewel victory this weekend in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Coverage for the Coca-Cola 600 begins at 6 p.m. ET on Prime Video, the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
