Ty Dillon, a multi-year veteran of the NASCAR Cup Series, will join forces with Kaulig Racing to run a partial schedule at NASCAR’s top-level in 2024, the organization officially announced on Monday.

A native of Lewisville, North Carolina, Dillon will get behind the wheel of the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro in five NASCAR Cup Series events throughout the season, beginning with Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.

“I’m excited to be back in the NASCAR Cup Series with Kaulig Racing,” said Dillon. “This is the highest level of our sport and allows me to go out and prove what I can do with great leaders in Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice, Travis Mack, and the entire team. Kaulig Racing gives me the best opportunity to showcase what I can do on the track.”

Dillon will return to the seat of the multi-driver entry at Texas Motor Speedway (April 14), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (June 23), Richmond Raceway (August 11), and Kansas Speedway (September 29).

After spending seven years competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, Dillon transitioned to a full-time program in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for 2024, where he drives the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado for Rackley WAR.

“We’re excited to have Ty Dillon compete for Kaulig Racing this season in the NASCAR Cup Series,” said Chris Rice, President of Kaulig Racing. “With our continued success in the sport and support from Richard Childress Racing, it made perfect sense to lean on a veteran driver to help pilot the No. 16.”

To the benefit of all parties, Dillon is accustomed to the intricacies of the seventh-generation racecar, having competed full-time in the series in 2022 and 2023 with Petty GMS Motorsports and Spire Motorsports, respectively, earning a single top-10 result in that time.

In 11 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Richmond Raceway, Dillon has a pair of top-20 results at the three-quarter mile racetrack, including a track-best 17th-place finish in the Summer of 2022, driving for Petty GMS.

Dillon joins a driver lineup for the No. 16 Chevrolet that has included NASCAR Cup Series race-winners AJ Allmendinger and Shane Van Gisbergen, as well as Cup Series rookie Derek Kraus, who will run a six-race schedule in the entry for 2024.
