Starting Lineup: NASCAR Cup Series The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono

Welcome back, Denny Hamlin.

Hamlin qualifiied on the pole for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Hamlin clocked in at 52.144 seconds around the 2.5-mile facility, earning pole position for Sunday's race. It will be Hamlin's first race back after missing the Cup Series' visit to Mexico City to stay with his family following the birth of his third child.

Hamlin is the winningest driver in Cup Series competition at Pocono Raceway, with seven career victories at the track. He will be seeking his eighth win on Sunday in The Great American Getaway 400, and his fourth of the 2025 season.

Chris Buescher qualified second, followed by Carson Hocevar, John Hunter Nemechek and Cole Custer.

The eventful qualifying session saw four drivers unable to set a time, which will relegate them to the rear of the field. Brennan Poole was not allowed to take time in qualifying stemming from issues in technical inspection. Josh Berry did not take part in the qualifying session due to damage to his rear diffuser in practice, while a spin during practice also sidelined Cody Ware.

Bubba Wallace was lined up and prepared to qualify, but his car refused to fire when it was his turn to qualify. William Byron also crashed during his qualifying lap, and both Todd Gilliland and A.J. Allmendinger had problems during their qualifying runs.
