Step inside the lines of NASCAR Artist Sam Bass through a carefully curated selection of his work, Tuesday 5/16 through Sunday 5/21, at Taupe Gallery in Downtown North Wilkesboro. Hand-picked by Sam’s close family and friends, “Racing Between The Lines” serves to show the extensive artistic process through his original linework while displaying some iconic favorites alongside never before seen pieces.
Sam Bass, NASCAR's First Officially Licensed Artist, dedicated his life to advancing the look of auto racing, bringing vibrance and uniqueness to the sport we all know and love. From his first illustrated art pieces as a young fan of Bobby Allison, to designing iconic paint schemes like the Rainbow Warrior that are forever etched in the history books, Sam led with his fandom and passion while presenting an unrivaled body of work that catapulted him to the top of his field.
"Racing Between The Lines" serves as a comprehensive collection of his work, from finished originals to concept art, showing the full spectrum of Sam's artistic method. To display his lasting impact, a selection of six modern motorsports artists are featured, who were inspired by Sam's career, and are continuing the values and goals of Sam Bass through their work in the industry.
This show has only come together because of the group effort that has gone into it; and I am so grateful to Jim and Steve for extending the invitation. They have really rolled the red carpet to help make it a success and something we can all be proud of as part of the week long festivities that will be going on to celebrate NASCAR's return to the North Wilkesboro track.
This show is brought to you by Owners Steve Key and Jim Lvall of Taupe Gallery of North Wilkesboro. Taupe is pleased to be the first to present this show featuring "Sam Bass Legacy" as the artist's family and friends continue their desire to preserve the history of his work for future generations.
