Race Results: NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 at Bristol

A late caution set up a dramatic finish to the Food City 500, as well as a first-time NASCAR Cup Series winner in Ty Gibbs.

Ryan Blaney led the way when the caution flag flew for a Chase Elliott spin with 24 laps to go. Five drivers stayed out on old tires, including Ty Gibbs, who led the field to the restart, while Kyle Larson restarted sixth after a two-tire stop and Blaney lined up seventh with four fresh tires.

Blaney and Larson raced their way to second and third, respectively, before a caution with four laps to go as Riley Herbst spun after contact with Kyle Busch. On the overtime restart, Gibbs held the high line over Blaney and finished ahead of the former series champion after battling side-by-side for two laps. Gibbs' margin of victory was just 0.055 seconds over Blaney.

Larson finished third after leading 284 of the race's 505 laps. Tyler Reddick finished fourth, with Chase Briscoe rounding out the top five.

The next stop for the NASCAR Cup Series is Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400 on Sunday, April 19. Coverage of the event begins at 2 p.m. ET on FOX, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
