Johnson, Knaus Added to NASCAR Hall of Fame Ballot; Class of 2024 Nominees Revealed

Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus are among the additions to the NASCAR Hall of Fame Ballot for 2024, which will see two candidates inducted from the Modern Era Ballot and one from the Pioneer Ballot.

Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus, the driver-crew chief pairing responsible for seven NASCAR Cup Series championships, are among the first-time nominees for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, as part of its Class of 2024 Ballot.

NASCAR officially announced the 15 nominees on the ballot for the Hall of Fame's Class of 2024 on Wednesday, as well as the five nominees for the Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions for NASCAR.

Both Johnson and Knaus were added to the Modern Era Ballow in their first year of eligibility, placing them alongside eight other NASCAR legends in Neil Bonnett, Tim Brewer, Jeff Burton, Carl Edwards, Harry Gant, Harry Hyde, Larry Phillips, and Ricky Rudd.

Donnie Allison, one of the original members of the Alabama Gang, has been placed on the Pioneer Ballot for the first time, joining Sam Ard, AJ Foyt, Banjo Matthews, and Ralph Moody.

Of the 15 individuals nominated, only two from the 10-person Modern Era Ballot and one from the Pioneer Ballot will be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame's Class of 2024.

After being present on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Ballot on three occasions, Les Richter, a long-time NASCAR executive responsible for bringing the sport to the West Coast, has been added to the Landmark Award Ballot.

Richter joins a five-person ballot for the Landmark Award which includes the likes of Janet Guthrie, Alvin Hawkins, Lesa France Kennedy, and Dr. Joseph Mattioli.

Both the Modern Era Ballot and Landmark Award nominees were selection the NASCAR Hall of Fame's Nomination Committee, which consists of representatives from NASCAR and the NASCAR Hall of Fame, track owners from major facilities, and historic short tracks. The Honors Committee, comprised of living Hall of Famers, Landmark Award winners, and Squier-Hall Award winners, selected the five-person Pioneer Ballot.

Now, the 61-person NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel will meet in person to discuss and vote for the Class of 2024 on August 2. That panel remains unchanged from last year, apart from the addition of Joey Logano, in place of previous champion voters Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.

The 62nd and final vote for the Class of 2024 will go to the winners of a NASCAR.com Fan Vote. That vote is currently open to the public and will close promptly on July 30th at 12:00 AM ET.
