The motorsports community is rallying around longtime sportswriter Holly Cain in her second fight against cancer.

Cain publicly shared her cancer diagnosis on January 7. She began a seven-week program of chemotherapy and radiation on Monday, January 29, with her first of five planned rounds of chemotherapy.

The GoFundMe page was created on Tuesday, January 30. As of 10:30 a.m. ET on the morning of Wednesday, January 31, the campaign had already raised nearly to $25,000 to assist with medical bills and living expenses, with support coming from motorsports industry drivers and teams.

Cain has been part of Racing America’s NASCAR coverage team over the past two years. She has spent more than 30 years covering motorsports. She won the NMPA Pocono Spirit Award in 2015, designed to recognize character and achievement in the face of adversity, sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports. She is also a recipient of the Henry McLemore Motorsports Press Award and the first woman to receive the Bob Russo Founders Award.
