LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has made the decision to withdraw the No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet Camaro from Sunday's Grant Park 220 - the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series event at the Chicago Street Course.
Jimmie Johnson, the co-owner of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, was scheduled to make his fourth start of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season in Sunday's historic event, driving a third, part-time entry for the usually two-car operation.
"LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has elected to withdraw the No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet from this weekend's NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago," a statement from the organization reads. "The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made."
On Tuesday, it was first reported by the Muskogee Phoenix that the parents and nephew of Chandra Janway, wife of NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson, had been killed in an apparent murder-suicide on Monday, June 26.
Johnson, a seven-time champion of the NASCAR Cup Series, has been married to Chandra Janway since 2004. The couple also have two daughters together, Genevieve and Lydia.
