On Wednesday and Thursday, November 9-10, the Randy Dorton Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown presented by Valvoline will once again take place. The competition pairs Hendrick Automotive Group certified master technicians will team up with Hendrick Motorsports race engine builders.
Over the course of two days, 12 teams battle for the Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown championship. The winning team must be able to assemble a 358-cubic-inch Chevrolet engine, consisting of 243 parts, quicker than the opposition with the fewest errors.
The first Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown took place in 2002. It was later renamed in memory of Randy Dorton, the longtime Director of Engine Operations and lead engine builder at Hendrick Motorsports.
Over the course of Wednesday and Thursday, each of the 12 teams will complete a qualifying build. The top two teams will then compete in the championship build on Thursday afternoon to crown the winner of this year’s Hendrick Engine Builder Showdown.
