Every single time that the NASCAR Cup Series has traveled to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City Dirt Race, Mother Nature has interfered.
Unfortunately, that's a trend that has continued this year, as incoming inclement weather has forced NASCAR to cancel all on-track activity on Friday from the half-mile dirt oval.
The sessions that have been impacted from Friday's cancellation include a pair of NASCAR Cup Series practices, and a pair of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practices, both scheduled for later this evening.
Those four sessions will not be rescheduled, meaning drivers and teams from the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR Truck Series will go through inspection, and then compete in Saturday's qualifying races.
However, with only 37 cars entered for Sunday's Food City Dirt Race, the lack of practice won't create weakness for those relying on practice, in terms of making the field
According to NASCAR, the sanctioning body is expected to release an updated schedule - for media availabilities and on-track activity - later on Friday.
