Daytona International Speedway announced Wednesday that the 2027 edition of the Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2027.

The 69th running of "The Great American Race" will shift one weekend later in the calendar, and officials at The World Center of Racing sought to give fans ample opportunity to plan accordingly.

“We have fans from all 50 states and dozens of countries who look forward to kicking off the NASCAR season with us at The World Center of Racing, and we know many of them make their travel and lodging plans well in advance for the trip,” said Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway.

“As the 2027 date shifts to Feb. 21, we wanted to give our amazing and loyal fans plenty of opportunity to prepare to be in Daytona Beach for the excitement The Great American Race provides each year."

The Daytona 500 has been held most frequently on Presidents' Day weekend. The event took place on the third weekend of February between 2011 and 2017 before returning to the Sunday before Presidents' Day in 2018.

The 2026 Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 15, 2026. William Byron will be seeking a third consecutive win in the event. Previously, only Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Sterling Marlin and Denny Hamlin have won the event in back-to-back years, and none went on to a third-straight win.

With his 2025 Daytona 500 win, Byron also became the youngest multi-time Daytona 500 champion and earned Hendrick Motorsports a 10th Daytona 500 victory.

The 2026 edition of Speedweeks Presented by AdventHealth at Daytona begins on Wednesday, February 11 with Daytona 500 Qualifying presented by Busch Light. The qualifying session determines the front row for the Daytona 500 and lineups for the Duel at Daytona on Thursday, February 12.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes the stage on Friday, February 13, followed by a doubleheader for the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday, February 14.

On Sunday, February 15, the NASCAR Cup Series kicks off its 2026 season with the 68th Daytona 500.
