Corey LaJoie, a journeyman driver who has spent the last seven seasons competing in the NASCAR Cup Series, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Spire Motorsports.
The extended agreement between LaJoie and Spire Motorsports will allow the 31-year-old to maintain his role as the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Cup Series for the foreseeable future.
A native of Concord, North Carolina, LaJoie has been able to win his way through the ranks of several different developmental series, including the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and the ARCA Menards Series.
On his path to compete at NASCAR's premier division, LaJoie has also made sporadic part-time appearances in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for various organizations.
Since first joining the NASCAR Cup Series on a full-time basis in 2017, LaJoie has slowly and steadily worked his way up the totem pole, joining forces with Spire Motorsports as the team's first full-time driver in 2021.
"Corey LaJoie took a chance on Spire Motorsports before we had any tools, any cars, or even a race shop," said Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports. "He is part of the fabric of this race team so it's hard to put into words what his commitment means to [co-owner T.J. Puchyr] and I. He made a very thoughtful and deliberate decision to return to Spire Motorsports. He had plenty of other opportunities and chose to stay the course. We're excited that Corey will continue to anchor this team and we're ready to keep making meaningful progress every time we unload."
Over the course of his tenure with Spire Motorsports, LaJoie - and the organization as a whole - have made immense strides, with the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet recording a pair of top-five results in back-to-back years at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
After the 22nd event of the year, both LaJoie and Spire Motorsports are on track to record their best-ever points finishes in the NASCAR Cup Series, sitting 27th in series point standings, with 11 finishes inside the top-20.
Until some difficult luck over the last four weeks or so, LaJoie had been able to keep the No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro inside the top-25 in driver standings, while beating some of the series' highest-funded teams.
"When Jeff [Dickerson], TJ [Puchyr], and I sat at the conference table three years ago, with a whiteboard and a vision to build a competitive race team, I was excited for the challenge," explained LaJoie. "Since that meeting, I've grown, matured, and developed my skills and will continue to improve myself and my extended family at Spire Motorsports for years to come."

In recent years, LaJoie has become a fan-favorite in the eyes of many, and has continued to be active on social media platforms while hosting his popular podcast titled "Stacking Pennies".
The terms of LaJoie's contract extension, including its length, were not disclosed at the time of the announcement. Any further partnership and personnel announcements will be made at a later date.
