Rising prospect Brent Crews announced on Friday the formation of his new NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, Brent Crews Motorsports, which will make its debut at Watkins Glen International on Friday, August 8.
The team will compete in select events in the Craftsman Truck Series. A part-time driver in the No. 1 for TRICON Garage in the Truck Series, the 17-year-old Crews is starting the No. 70 Toyota team with backing from Pristine Auction.
What started as an interest in competing in the Watkins Glen event despite not being on his slate of races with TRICON Garage turned into a full-fledged leap into team ownership.
“I grew up going to dinner on race weekends with guys like Nick Tucker and Brian Keselowski listening to stories about building race cars and engines out of spare parts and barely getting to the track,” said Crews. “Even though everyone would tell them they were crazy, it always sounded like so much fun to me.
"When we started talking about me buying a truck to run Watkins Glen, no one was willing to tell me it was a bad idea and it just kind of snowballed from there. I sold all my micro sprints to raise some of the money and here we are.”
Prior to the formation of Brent Crews Motorsports, Crews was scheduled to compete in nine Craftsman Truck Series events with TRICON Garage, as well as nine ARCA Menards Series races for Joe Gibbs Racing.
The team will temporarily operate out of the Nitro Motorsports Trans-Am headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina, with Crews currently the primary driver for his team. This will supplement his scheduled races with TRICON, adding to his time behind the wheel.
“My stepdad Matt and I have always done things outside the box,” Crews added. “We went National Midget racing when I was 12 and became the youngest Midget winner in history with Pristine Auction on the side of the car, so I’m super pumped to have them back on board.
"I don’t really know where this is going to go, but with all the buzz around road course guys right now, it didn’t seem right to miss Watkins Glen. I love the track. I have a win there. I don’t know what to expect from our team, but I will give it everything I’ve got. Watching on TV was not an option.”
It has already been a memorable 2025 season for Crews. It started with a win in the Stock Non-Wing Division at the Tulsa Shootout in January, and continued with a win in his ARCA Menards Series debut at Phoenix Raceway in March.
Crews also earned an ARCA Menards Series East victory at Rockingham Speedway before going to victory lane in last weekend's ARCA event at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. He tallied an eighth-place finish at Lime Rock Park in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in June.
The team makes its debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Race at Watkins Glen on Friday, August 8. Coverage of the event will be on FS1 at 5 p.m. ET.
