RFK Racing announced on Friday that NASCAR Cup Series driver and team co-owner Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg in a skiing incident and underwent successful surgery on Thursday, December 18.

Keselowski suffered the injury while on a ski trip with his family on Thursday. RFK Racing elected to disclose the injury on Friday, out of respect to the tragic plane incident in Statesville, North Carolina on Thursday, which claimed the lives of seven individuals, including former RFK Racing driver Greg Biffle.

"First and foremost, our hearts remain heavy with the news of yesterday’s tragic events," reads the team's statement. "The RFK Racing family, as well as the NASCAR community as a whole, continues to keep those close to the Biffle family and all those affected in our thoughts.

"Albeit untimely, we feel that in the interest of transparency we share RFK Racing co-owner and driver Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg while on a ski trip with his family Thursday. Keselowski has successfully completed routine surgery, and doctors expect a quick and full recovery."

Keselowski hopes to be back at full strength in time for the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway to start the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.

“I’m grateful for the medical team who took great care of me and for the support system around me,” said Keselowski. “My attention now is fully on recovery. I’m motivated to get back to full strength as quickly as possible and will work relentlessly to be ready for Daytona.”

Keselowski also shared pictures from the hospital on X, adding, "Life has a way of reminding you to slow down.

"Grateful for my family by my side, an excellent medical team, and the ability to take a few steps forward today. Focused on Daytona. Bonus - I'm now bionic!"

Keselowski drives the team's No. 6 entry in the NASCAR Cup Series. He joined RFK Racing as a driver and team owner ahead of the 2022 season.

The 41-year-old from Rochester Hills, Michigan won the NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2012. He has won 36 series in NASCAR's premier series, including the Southern 500 and Brickyard 400 in 2018 and the Coca-Cola 600 in 2020.

Keselowski earned his first NASCAR Cup Series win with RFK Racing during the 2024 season at Darlington Raceway. In 2025, Keselowski tallied six top-five finishes and 13 top-10s, finishing 20th in the championship standings.

In the season finale at Phoenix Raceway, Keselowski finished second to Ryan Blaney while Kyle Larson claimed the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series title.

The Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway is scheduled for Sunday, February 15. Coverage of the event will air on FOX, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
