2024 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule Released; Finale Pushed to November 10th

After several months filled with anticipation and speculation, NASCAR officially released the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule on Wednesday, which features several notable shake-ups.

The 41-week season will commence with the series' annual Busch Light Clash (Feb. 4), an exhibition event which, for the third consecutive season, will be held at the LA Memorial Coliseum.

With an off-week immediately following the Clash, teams will then travel to Daytona International Speedway for the 66th running of the Daytona 500 (Feb. 18).

The first major schedule change comes immediately after, with Atlanta Motor Speedway taking the spot previously held by Auto Club Speedway as the second race on the schedule (Feb. 26).

Pushing ahead the Spring race for Atlanta ensures that the 1.5-mile superspeedway-like facility will have two completely new race dates in 2024, as the track will also host the playoff-opener for the NASCAR Cup Series (Sept. 8).

Tagging along into the NASCAR Playoffs is Watkins Glen, which moves from its traditional spot as the penultimate race of the regular season, into a slot as the second race of the 'Round of 16' (Sept. 15).

Other changes to the schedule in 2024 include the movement of the Spring event at Bristol, with the track not just ditching the Dirt Race, but also the Easter Sunday date that came along with it.

Bristol Motor Speedway will move to the fifth points-paying race of the year, while Richmond Raceway will take Easter Sunday (March 31), making it the seventh points-paying race of the 2024 season.

Amongst further major changes in the schedule, is Texas Motor Speedway moving its late Summer date - which has been a scorcher the last couple of years - into the Spring (Apr. 14).

Making returns to the NASCAR Cup Series schedule in 2024 is North Wilkesboro Speedway, which will once again hold the NASCAR All-Star Race (May 19), and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval (July 21).

While there were no changes to the venue of the season-finale of the NASCAR Cup Series campaign, the event at Phoenix Raceway has been moved back to November 10th, as opposed to the originally announced November 3rd.
