Race of Champions Prepares for Maynard Troyer Classic on August 29

Just 16 days remain before the Maynard Troyer Classic VI, presented by F/A Products and Planter Box Direct, takes center stage at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y. on Friday, August 29. Last year, Ron Silk of Norwalk, Conn., scored the victory in car #16, adding his name to the event’s growing legacy.

The Maynard Troyer Classic has become one of the most anticipated and lucrative events for asphalt Modified racing in Western New York, Pennsylvania, and the Northeast. Much of its growth is due to the tireless efforts of Ken Troyer — son of the late Maynard Troyer and a former Modified driver and car owner from Hilton, N.Y. — who not only contributes financially but also works year-round to recruit top competitors to the event.

Returning as a presenting partner is Tom Forgione, a longtime friend of the Troyer family. Forgione once again steps up through his F/A Products Engine and Performance Parts brand to add to the overall purse and offer additional incentives for racers. The F/A Products decal will be mandatory on each car in the Modified field to be eligible for this extra support.

“This is a great fit for our performance business,” stated Forgione. “It’s a wonderful way to honor my friend Maynard’s huge impact on the sport. We’ve seen tangible results from our investment in recent years, and I’d like to thank all of the fans, racers, and everyone involved for their support. This is going to be another special night.”

Joining as co-presenting partner is Planter Box Direct (planterboxdirect.com), owned by Dominick Ciliberto of All Metal Works. Ciliberto, a longtime supporter of local and national auto racing, has sponsored numerous drivers and been involved with the Maynard Troyer Classic for the past three years.

“We’ve enjoyed our relationship with Kenny Troyer and the Race of Champions,” said Ciliberto. “This event gives us great exposure for our products, and we’re proud to step up our involvement for such a great race.”

Special Awards and Format

• Winner’s Rings: Scott Hossfeld will once again present a custom champion’s ring to the Modified race winner. Additional rings will be awarded to the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series and Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series winners, and one lucky fan will also win a ring via raffle.

• Race Distances: The Modifieds will go 60 laps; the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series will run 36 laps; and the Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modifieds will race 16 laps — a nod to Maynard Troyer’s iconic #6.
