Williamson, N.Y. – (September 6, 2025) – The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series continued its streak of parity on Friday night at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., as Evan Rygielski of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., captured his first career Series victory in the conclusion of the Maynard Troyer Classic VI.
Rygielski became the eighth different winner of the 2025 season, further highlighting the depth of talent within the division.
“This is incredible,” said Rygielski in victory lane. “We had a good car and it was a great race with Andy Lewis, Sr. He was right there the entire way, so I just had to focus on hitting my marks. I need to thank my mom and dad, my family, my crew, and everyone who helps us. This is a great day for our team.”
Andy Lewis, Sr. (Ontario, N.Y.) finished a close second, with Eddie Hawkins (Marion, N.Y.) coming home third. Mike Leaty (Williamson, N.Y.) and Joe Evans (Holland, N.Y.) completed the top five.
Qualifying races were originally run on Friday, August 29, with victories going to Leaty, Kevin Timmerman (Ontario, N.Y.), and
Andrew Lewis, Jr. (Ontario, N.Y.) Leaty also posted the fastest time in final practice.
In the Race of Champions Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series, Joey VanLare of Williamson, N.Y. outdueled Carter Ridgeway (Williamson, N.Y.) to score the win. John Sippel (Webster, N.Y.) rounded out the podium in third.
