Ty Majeski, quite literally, flew to pole position for Sunday's 47th Annual Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway.

As he discussed earlier in the week on Racing America's "The Bullring," Majeski hoped the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway would end in time for him to fly to Alabama, take a quick car ride to South Alabama Speedway and take part in Saturday afternoon's qualifying session for the $25,000-to-win Super Late Model event.

“After the Truck race, I have a private flight set up to fly back down to South Alabama," said Majeski during the interview. "It’s a 27-minute flight and a 15-minute drive from the airport we’re flying into. With a little bit of luck, I might be able to make qualifying Saturday, and then the Rattler Sunday afternoon.”

Majeski finished 11th in the race, then quickly made his way to the airport and southbound.

A brief rain delay during Pro Late Model qualifying increased the chances of Majeski arriving on time, but the Super Late Model qualifying session started without him, and his car was pulled out of line when he was not present in time to qualify in his scheduled spot in the qualifying order.

However, he did arrive before the conclusion of the qualifying session, allowing him to take part as the last car on track.

The late arrival came with a penalty - the faster of Majeski's two timed laps during the single-car qualifying session would be scratched from the record, and he would be placed in the field based on his slower lap. Fortunately for Majeski, his slower lap of 15.298 seconds was still enough to knock off Justin Mondeik from the pole.

Mondeik will start second in Sunday's race, followed by Jesse Love, Gio Ruggiero and Jeremy Doss.

Michael Hinde set fast time in qualifying for the Pro Late Model "Baby Rattler" 125, which takes place Saturday evening. Both Saturday night's Baby Rattler and Sunday's Rattler 250 can be watched live on Racing America.
