Crossroads with the Burtons
Treyten Lapcevich flexed his muscle at Owosso Speedway Saturday night, dominating the Big O Classic 100 for his first career Turn One CRA Pro Series victory.
Lapcevich took the lead on lap 36 from Evan Shotko and maintained the top spot the rest of the distance to win the season-opening event for the Turn One CRA Pro Series.
"I'm a big fan of Owosso Speedway," said Lapcevich in victory lane. "There's so much fun there, being able to run two lanes. Hats off to the Rette Jones Racing guys, Port City Racecars. They build an awesome car, and we showed it here tonight."
While Lapcevich was the class of the field, he felt the pressure from Shotko and runner-up finisher Blake Rowe throughout Saturday evening at Owosso.
"Blake and Evan, really quick, ran a great race there. Just trying to save what I could while also pushing Blake. He wasn't making it easy there. I had to definitely be on the loud pedal there at the end. These guys just build such a race that could last the whole race, and it made it a lot easier on me."
Rowe, the 2024 CRA Pro Series champion, started his bid for a second series title with a second-place finish. While he didn't feel he was quick enough to challenge Lapcevich for the win on Saturday night, he was excited with his pace to start the new year.
"I think we had what we had there," Rowe said. "The 30 car was really, really good. They were bolted today. Treyten's a great race car driver, and glad to see him get that opportunity.
"I'm also just really, extremely thankful to the TK Racing group and VanDoorn Racing Development for having me here again today. I feel like this is going to be a rebirth of Blake Rowe Racing through the summer. Today was a really great way to start the year off."
A strong run at Owosso in particular excited Rowe, as it is a track that has stymied him in recent years.
"Quite honestly, Owosso last year was probably our weakest link on the schedule. We just never found anything that worked for me. I think we've got a package here we can really build on and bring back for Masters of the Pros and make it better yet."
Shotko rounded out the podium, enjoying an exciting evening of racing
"They were just better cars tonight," said Shotko. "We had a good car, but we were missing that little bit. This is a really good field of cars, and you've got to be perfect to win the race.
"That's why we love this place. You race hard here and race close. It was a good race, had a lot of fun."
Tyler Lupton finished fourth, with Chase Pinsonneault rounding out the top five.
The Turn One CRA Pro Series heads to Flat Rock Speedway on June 6 for the second race of the 2026 season.
