SpeedFest has taken place three times on January 27, including some of its wildest and most memorable runnings. Here is a look at those races, as well as some other great short track moments on January 27.
1980 - Joe Ruttman wins the Late Model portion of the 1980 Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway (AZ). This was Ruttman’s second win in the race, having won back in 1977. Jimmy Inslo, the 1978 winner, came home second in the 1980 running. Don Harper was third.

1985 - At the Indoor Hoosier Hundred, Rich Vogler set the fast time with a lap of 7.773 seconds. Later in the race, Vogler then passed Mel Kenyon on lap 42 to pick up the win. Barry Reed, Jim Hines, and Ken Hopkins made up the top five.

1990 - Jack Cook goes wire-to-wire to win the Orange Blossom 100 at New Smyrna Speedway. Leroy Porter was second with Bruce Lawrence, David Rogers and Roger Boone making up the top five.

2007 - Eddie Hoffman wins the third running of SpeedFest at Lakeland International after coming from 21st to win the event. The race was scheduled for 200 laps, but it went 212 laps due to green-white checkered finishes. Ben Rowe started on the pole and finished 19th as only 13 of the 38 starters were on the lead lap. Hoffman beat out Butch Miller, Justin Drawdy and Cassius Clark for the win. Miller would only run a handful more legit short track events before his final few starts in the NASCAR Truck Series.

2013 - Jeff Choquette somehow survived one of the wildest SpeedFest Super Late Model races in history. Choquette led 3 laps in a 200-lap event that was slowed by 25 yellow flags. Choquette came from 15th to win with second-place finisher David Odell coming from 23rd and third-place finisher Scott Heckert coming from 28th.
RESULTS: 2013 SpeedFest 200
2013 - The lead was swapped 15 times by five different drivers with Chase Elliott surging ahead in the final laps to win the 100-lap SpeedFest Pro Late Model event. The 16 caution flags aided the lead changes, but the front five were close all day. 16 of the 32 cars finished on the lead lap. Elliott held off Justin South, Bubba Pollard, Korey Ruble and Mike Garvey for the win.
