Southern Pro Late Model Track Alliance Announces Rogers-Dabbs Performance Challenge
Feb 9, 2024
The current entry list for the 60th Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway features 30 cars, with numerous big names ready to 'Hunt for the Bear.'
A little more than a week remains between now and the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway, but already the list of announced entries promises some stout Late Model competition on March 2 at the Alabama half-mile.
The Alabama 200 celebrates its 60th running this year to kick off the 2024 Show Me The Money Series. The $10,000-to-win event offers the unique Bear trophy and a spot in history to whoever takes the checkered flag first.
Plenty of recognizable names will be looking for that prize at this year’s event. Of course, there may not be a more recognizable name than Alabama’s own Augie Grill. The five-time Alabama 200 winner picked up big wins at SpeedFest and at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2023 and hopes to get another big win early in 2024.
Casey Roderick is a two-time winner of the Alabama 200, taking the win in 2017 and 2018. He’ll be looking for another win in the event this year in his first appearance in the race since 2019.
Another big name in the Alabama 200 history books is Ronnie Sanders. As a driver, the Georgia Racing Hall of Famer is credited with wins in 1976 and 1979 in the event. He’s also won the event multiple times as a car owner, most recently with Hunter Robbins in 2022.
This year, the Ronnie Sanders Racing No. 18 sees a new face behind the wheel, Florida’s Jake Finch. A winner in ARCA Menards Series East competition last year, Finch partners up with Sanders to hunt for the bear.
2021 Alabama 200 winner Christopher Tullis claimed his third Show Me the Money Series championship last year. He’ll be hoping to add to his collection of Montgomery success and kick off the 2024 Show Me The Money season with another Bear trophy.
Another pair of 2023 Pro Late Model track champions in the Southeast are also included on the list of confirmed entries. 2018 Show Me the Money Series champion John Bolen claimed the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series title at Five Flags Speedway last year.
Meanwhile, Dylan Fetcho made history at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, joining Sterling Marlin and Andy Kirby, Jr. on the list of three-time track champions at the venerable facility. Only Coo Coo Marlin and Joe Buford, with four titles apiece, can lay claim to more Nashville premier division titles.
Hunter Wright claimed the Pro Late Model championship during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway this month. He’ll be looking to continue his strong start to the season at the Alabama 200, along with one of his primary competitors during that title fight, Dawson Sutton.
Of course, you can’t discuss the list of entries without mentioning last year’s Alabama 200 winner, Seth Christensen. Christensen returns in 2024 looking to join the likes of Grill, Roderick and Red Farmer as back-to-back Alabama 200 winners.
On Monday, February 26, Montgomery Motor Speedway issued an update to the entry list, with three more drivers moving the total to 30 cars. The new entries include Stephen Nasse, Harrison Halder and Holt Halder.
While Nasse has not competed frequently in the Alabama 200, he did finish third in the event in 2022 after leading 151 laps.
