Salem, IN – Two-time Winchester 400 winner and former ASA National Tour Champion Gary St. Amant, Crew Chief for Chase for the Championship contender Albert Francis, is the 2022 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS. Francis finished third in the series’ Chase for the Championship after an early crash ended his day in the Winchester 400. Francis was the top finishing Chase driver heading into the Winchester 400 Season Championship after his finishes at the Labor Day Weekend series event at Winchester Speedway and the Glass City 200 series event at Toledo Speedway on September 17th, those finishes gave St. Amant enough points to win the 2022 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award.

2021 was the seventh straight season that Outerwears has sponsored the award, past winners included Jeff Lane in 2015, Scott Neal in 2016, Butch Van Doorn in 2017, Wimmer Motorsports in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 there was the first ever split award with Willie Allen Crew Chief for 2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin and Jimmy Tucker, Crew Chief for Michael Simko splitting the award. John VanDoorn, Crew Chief for Kyle Crump, was the 2021 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award winner.

The award was based upon the Chase for the Championship format that CRA used to determine its Champions again in 2022. The final four scheduled races were utilized to determine the Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award based upon a points system for the Chase teams finish in those four events.

Butch VanDoorn, Crew Chief for ARCA/CRA Super Series 2022 Champion Eddie Van Meter, finished in second, one point behind St. Amant. Bryan Glaze, Crew Chief for Cometic Gasket Rookie of the Year and second place in the Championship Billy Van Meter, finished in third place, he was one point behind VanDoorn.

St. Amant will receive a $1000 cash bonus and a specially designed trophy from Outerwears at the 2022 CRA Awards Banquet.
