When you look at past races at Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) you see almost everything in the track history from NASCAR races to rising stars that would help craft the legendary “Alabama Gang.” The track has produced and helped launch the careers of several drivers as well as notable series and events. However, one thing you won’t find is a same-day doubleheader for two top Late Model Series.

On Saturday, April 29th the ASA Southern Super Series will return to Montgomery for the rescheduled Rumble by the River 100. The Super Late Model series will share the racing card with the track’s highly successful Show Me the Money Series for Pro Late Model cars. This is the first time in the history of the track that two Late Model Series will run on the same day.

“This is an event that our fanbase wants to see,” said Montgomery track General Manager Stan Narrison. “You have the top Pro Late Model and Super Late Model drivers coming together for this. I’m excited and so are our fans to see this much talent at Montgomery this weekend.”

In an effort to keep costs down after the original date was rained out, the track and series are making this a one day show. The entry window is still open for all classes with practices to be held the day-of before time trials. Southern Super Series drivers can still enter if they were not at Montgomery a few weeks back.

“This is still a new event for our Pro Late Model drivers and the Southern Super Series drivers as well,” added Narrison. “Just because we got washed out does not mean we wanted to close the books on race registration. Anyone can still show up and run the Super or Pro Late Model event. If you have questions, give us a call at the track because we want any team to be a part of this.”

The closest thing one could find in the track’s history to an event like this would be from June of 1984 when the All PRO Pickup Series ran the night before the old ALL PRO Super Series. These days the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour often runs with the Show Me the Money Series.

“This is a very unique opportunity to host this event,” added Narrison. “Our fans are in for a real treat as we should have a large number of Late Models in the pits this weekend. The only time when you can see something like this is at the Snowball Derby in December.”

This will be the 17th race in the ASA Southern Super Series at Montgomery, and it will be the final race in the deep south for several weeks as the series takes the northern swing to North Carolina for the months of May and June.

The Innovated Roofing Pros are the presenting sponsor for the Rumble by the River weekend at Montgomery Motor Speedway.

Racing gets underway at 6:30pm CT on Saturday, April 29th. The ASA Southern Super Series will be joined by the Show Me the Money Pro Late Model Series, the Street Stocks and the Late Model Sportsman.
