Seth Christensen led wire-to-wire in Saturday's Atlanta Paving and Concrete Construction Pro Late Model feature at Cordele Motor Speedway, scoring his first victory of the season at the Georgia track.
Christensen dominated the 100-lap Pro Late Model contest, putting together a picture-perfect day. The Pendergrass, Georgia driver set fast time in qualifying, drew pole position during the redraw, and never let go of the lead during an impressive showing.
"First of all, I've got to thank the JC Motorsports program," said Christensen. "We've worked so hard on these cars to get them where they're at. I think we finally found it. Second of all, I need to thank the Kulwicki Driver Development Program. They've done a ton for me off the track as well, helping me develop as a driver."
While Christensen led every lap, he was not uncontested in the race. On several restarts, Colin Allman put up an impressive fight driving the famed No. 18 for Ronnie Sanders Racing.
"The 18 was really strong getting into one, just had a really good pinch going in there," said Christensen. "He kind of had me in a pickle a couple of times off of two. We were able to prevail off of three and four about every time. Again, huge thanks to these guys. They've made this car so perfect."
Garrett Gumm finished second, passing Allman for the second spot with 23 laps to go, but was unable to close in on Christensen.
"It wasn't a bad run," said Gumm. "Thanks to Scott Mosley for bringing me such a fast car this weekend. Unfortunately, not enough. Once we got around the 18, we had speed, we were actually catching the 54, but he was just too far away at the end."
Allman rounded out the podium in his first race with Ronnie Sanders. Typically one of the top privateers of the region with his family team, this was a special opportunity for Allman to drive the iconic No. 18.
"First off, I can't thank Mr. Ronnie and all of his guys enough for all of their hard work the past couple of days," said Allman. "Like, I'm blessed to get this opportunity and I'm really happy for it. I wish we could have battled a little bit more with Seth, but we were just a little bit too free tonight.
"Like I said, I can't thank these guys enough, man. It was a blast driving this thing. I had to learn a different car. We had good speed all day, all weekend, but just came up a little bit short in the race."
Cody Martell finished fourth, with Luke Yarbrough rounding out the top five.
The next event on Cordele's schedule is the Summer Sizzler and Pit Stop Challenge on Saturday, August 2. Outlaws, Pure Stocks, Mini Stocks, Enduros, Crown Vics, Legends and Bandoleros are on the schedule for the event.
