Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 winner Ryan Newman is this year's VIP guest at the Dec. 9 Kulwicki Driver Development Program's 10th anniversary awards dinner, which will have an air of suspense surrounding it.
Unlike the previous nine years, when the winner was announced before the awards dinner, the five "Underbirds" won't know who won this year's competition until the banquet. This year's "Underbirds", alphabetically, are Georgia's Seth Christensen, Illinois' Noah Eisenhower, Massachusetts' Derek Gluchacki, Vermont's Taylor Hoar, and Wisconsin's Bryce Miller.
Prior to the much-anticipated announcement, Newman will participate in a "Tire Side Chat" with SIRIUSXM NASCAR Radio show host Dave Moody. Like 1992 NASCAR Cup champion and NASCAR Hall of Fame member Alan Kulwicki, Newman possesses an engineering degree.
Veteran motorsports radio broadcaster Doug Rice is hosting the program that will be streamed live on Racing America beginning at 6:30 p.m. EST. The event begins at 5 p.m. in Charlotte Motor Speedway's The Speedway Club ballroom. Admission is $80 per person, seating is limited, and tickets are available for purchase at kddp.eventbrite.com only through December 1 at 5 p.m. EST.
