There is perhaps no driver carrying more momentum than Hunter Robbins right now as the Southern Super Series prepares to make its annual pilgrimage to Montgomery Motor Speedway on June 11 for the Rumble by the River 125.

The 30-year-old Montgomery, Alabama native currently sits third in points, has picked up two top five finishes and boasts an average finish of 6.4 in five races thus far in Southern Super Series competition with the Ronnie Sanders Racing No. 18.

“So far we’ve been really consistent for the most part,'' said Robbins. “We’ve been right there consistently in the top five and you have to really do that before you can win. So, we have accomplished that much but now we have to find that little bit more that we need so that we can find our way into victory lane.”

Montgomery may host Robbins' best chance at breaking through to the winner’s circle this year, having already won two Show Me The Money Pro Late Model Series races at the track in as many starts, including the prestigious Alabama 200 in March and the Disturbing the Peace 100 on May 28th.

“The track drives pretty similarly for both cars.” Robbins continued. “We’ve been working pretty hard so I won’t say we’re shocked to have a few wins there already this year. But at the same time, it seems surreal that it finally has happened the way that we planned it. I’ve learned a lot of little tricks lately setup-wise and driving-wise. So if we can unload well on Friday I think we’ll be really good.”

For Robbins, Montgomery holds a special place in his heart as the track that he grew up racing.

“I learned to race late models there. In fact I used to race a lot, almost every week, during the week back when they had little 40 lap shows. They don’t really do that anymore. But the fact that I was able to have success early on and continue to win there really makes you like the place a lot more. When you struggle to win at a place it makes you not really like it. So it’s nice to still like the place.”

The Southern Super Series points title is up for grabs with six races remaining in the 2022 schedule. With stops at Montgomery Motor Speedway, Tri-County Speedway, New Smyrna Speedway, Five Flags Speedway, and Crisp Motorsports Park still on the schedule, there’s never been a better time to start making your plans to head out to the racetrack.
