Officials with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) have announced a huge upgrade to their traditional Spencer Paving Group PASS 400 Weekend at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway. The potential payout is now $100,000 for PASS Super Late Model teams participating in the three-segment race on the weekend of October 18th and 19th.

As a part of the announcement, PASS president Tom Mayberry also said the race will return to the original 400-lap distance and have a unique twist. Three segments will be 100, 100, and 200 laps, with each paying $25,000 to only the winner. The unique winner-take-all segments will each pay full PASS points to the entire field, meaning the championship will not be decided until that final day. Additionally, an overall purse paying $25,000 and $1,500 to start will be paid out to the field according to their lowest combined scores in each segment.

“We wanted to try something new that we really haven’t seen before,” said Mayberry. “The winner-take-all payout for each segment should make for some very interesting strategy. With big money and points on the line in each segment, it could really shake things up.”

Mayberry went on to state teams will have only 12-tires to stretch for 400 laps and the 50-lap qualifying races, meaning teams will have to decide when to use new tires and when to use that qualifying set. A full field inversion after each segment will further shake things up and add to the unique format.

“We have seen different strategy come into play during the 300,” Mayberry continued. “Adding 100 laps, PASS season points for each segment, and big segment payouts will add even more to the race. Teams will have to decide if they want to go for a segment win, the overall race win, or championship points, and plan their tire use accordingly.”

Mayberry also announced a surprising series of paths to the PASS 400 weekend. The UARA series will have a provisional available to their highest ranked driver who has participated in three races. There will also be a provisional available for the highest car in the Labor Day 250 contested at Speedway 660 in New Brunswick.

Additionally, PASS and Oxford Plains Speedway will have one provisional each for the highest full-time competitor. Lastly, the PASS Sunoco 150 on August 22nd and the Kennebec Equipment Rental 150 on September 7th will award one spot each to the highest finishing driver not qualified.

Super Late Models are not the only class of cars racing for big money on the weekend of October 18th and 19th. As a part of the announcement, Mayberry said there will also be a $5,000 to win, $300 to start Street Stock/Strictly Stock/Limited type race that will start up to 30 cars. The Hoosier 790 on an eight-inch wheel will be the tire of choice with the goal of equalizing various types of cars and touring series throughout New England. Specific rules for this race will be released very soon but will be open to several different packages from the various New England tracks and touring series.

Lastly, Mayberry went on to reveal there will also be an extra-distance race for the Thunder Stock division paying $3,000 to win and $150 to start for up to 36 cars. The low buck race cars are one of the fastest growing divisions at many racetracks and has become one of the most popular entry level divisions in America.

Rounding out the weekend, the PASS MODS will have their annual twin 50’s, featuring the same segment payouts and overall purse as 2024 in their season-ending contest. Mad Bombers will participate in their 80 laps Oxford Auto Salvage special paying $2000 to win in their special event. Spencer Group Paving PASS 400 Weekend will also feature racing from the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour as well as the ACT Flying Tigers.

Entry forms for all divisions will be posted soon, along with full event schedules, rules and details. With unheard of purses and a return to the traditional 400 laps, this makes the PASS 400 weekend another one of the crown jewels you won’t want to miss!
