North-South Super Late Model Challenge Canceled Due to Weather Forecast

Officials from Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and the ASA Southern Super Series have announced that Saturday's North-South Super Late Model Challenge, featuring Super Late Models, has been canceled due to an unfavorable weather forecast calling for an approximately 80 percent chance of rain and the potential for strong thunderstorms throughout the day and into Saturday night. The Friday practice has also been scratched.

Speedway officials monitored the forecast closely throughout the week with hopes conditions would improve enough to safely conduct the event. Unfortunately, the forecast has remained consistently unfavorable, prompting the difficult decision to cancel the program in advance. Making the announcement early allows traveling race teams, fans, and officials to avoid unnecessary travel and associated expenses.

"Everyone involved wanted to race this weekend," said Bob Sargent, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway promoter. "We held out hope that the forecast would improve, but with the high probability of rain and strong storms continuing throughout Saturday, we felt it was in everyone's best interest to make the call now. We appreciate the understanding of our fans, competitors, and partners."

At this time, no makeup date has been announced for the North-South Super Late Model Challenge. Speedway officials will evaluate the remainder of the 2026 schedule and provide an update if a rescheduled date becomes available.

The cancellation marks the first rainout of the 2026 racing season at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

The speedway's next scheduled event will be Bass Tire Family Night at the Races on Saturday, August 8, featuring another exciting evening of grassroots short track racing and family entertainment at the historic Fairgrounds. For the Southern Super Series, the next event features a double header weekend in Cordele, GA, Friday and Saturday, July 31 and August 1.
