APC United Late Model Series
RacingAmerica.TV Bringing Busy Weekend to Fans for May 16-18
May 12, 2025
The 2025 season finally kicked off at Oxford Plains Speedway on Tuesday night, after multiple postponements thanks to an uncooperative Mother Nature. A familiar face found his way to victory lane on Applebee's Opening Night.
Mike Rowe earned his 154th feature win at Oxford Plains and the 127th of his career in Oxford's premier division.
In a rare move, Oxford Plains Speedway scheduled its opening night for Tuesday after multiple rainouts plagued attempts throughout April and the first half of May. Fans took advantage of Tuesday's beautiful weather to support the track, and all of the drivers were grateful to see them in the stands.
"I've got a good crew," said Rowe in victory lane. "They did a great job for me. I tell you, on a Tuesday night, I want to thank all you fans for coming out here tonight. It is great."
Rowe passed Austin Teras just past the halfway point of the 50-lap Mid-Coast Excavation Super Late Model feature to pick up the victory. After a couple of attempts to work his way to Teras' inside, the driver frequently referred to as "The King" at Oxford Plains Speedway used his years of experience to pass Teras on the outside.
"I got on his bumper, I just had to run him as hard as I could," said Rowe. "I tried getting underneath him a couple times. He didn't want to give me the bottom, so I tried the outside. We had a good race together, it was good."
Teras finished second to the seven-time track champion, a strong showing to open the 2025 season at Oxford Plains.
"That's fun, racing Mike," said Teras. "I'm pretty sure he's won the most ever here, so it's humbling. We picked out tires last, so our stagger was way off. We tried to make the best of our day. It's fun to be racing, even if it was on a Tuesday night. Thank you for everybody coming out and the Mayberrys."
Evan Roy, one of several young drivers who scored their first career wins in the Super Late Models last season at Oxford Plains Speedway. It was a treat for him to share the podium with Rowe on Opening Day.
"I never thought I'd be able to share victory lane with The King," said Roy. "I grew up hanging around him, so this is really cool for me. I honestly didn't know I'd end up here today. We struggled in practice. Thanks to all the guys at Dale Shaw Race Cars, Gabe, Dale, DJ, the staff. No better people I'd rather be around and be surrounded by than them."
Kate Re finished fourth, with Ryan Littlefield rounding out the top five.
Other Opening Day winners include Jon Brill (Limiteds), Brandon Johnson (Street Stocks), Brandon Caron (Mad Bombers), Shane Webber (Runnin' Rebels), Dustin Salley (Thunderstocks), William Barker (Cruisers) and Tucker Verrill (Rookies).
Oxford Plains and Pro All Stars Series officials also announced the make-up date for the PASS Super Late Models Stearns & Daughters 150 at Oxford Plains before Tuesday's racing program. That race will now take place on Sunday, July 20.
Oxford Plains will be back in action this Saturday, May 17 with Kennebec Equipment Rentals Night. The Oxford Championship Series divisions will be in action, with racing starting at 3 p.m. ET.
