Michael Atwell will be looking to pick up his second $25,000 victory of the year on May 31 when he visits Wenatchee Valley Super-Oval for the third edition of the Wenatchee 200.
Michael Atwell has already captured a crown jewel event in 2025, having brought the Chris Davidson Racing Super Late Model home first in the 49th Annual “Hardee’s Rattler 250” at South Alabama Speedway (AL). After his record setting win, having led the most laps in race history, Atwell will be looking to pick up his second 2025 $25,000-to-win victory on May 31st, when he and Davidson visit the Wenatchee Valley Super-Oval (WA) for the third edition of the “Wenatchee 200.”
The two-time “Bill Bigley Sr. Memorial” winner will be making the trip from Naples, FL to compete in the growing event. Atwell brings a resume that also includes two Super Late Model titles at 417 Southern Speedway (FL) as well as another championship at Desoto Speedway (FL). He has USAC National and Regional titles with big race wins such as the “Davidson Family Memorial 100” at 417, and two wins at “Florida Winterfest” at Showtime Speedway (FL). He made his first journey to the Pacific Northwest in 2023, finishing ninth in the “Summer Showdown 200” at Evergreen Speedway (WA), while making the trip to WVSO last year, where he led four laps, but only completed 43 laps, finishing 20th.
Despite his disappointing result in 2024, Atwell enjoyed his visit to the ¼-mile bullring, and picturesque mountaintop facility. He enjoyed the challenges the track provided, as well as the facility as a whole.”
“The track and facility were incredible”, Atwell stated. “The Evans family do a great job at keeping a clean facility, with spectacular views. The track itself was very racy, and I enjoyed the difference in front and back straightaways, allowing for different angles to attack the corner.”
The East Wenatchee, WA facility has many similarities to the tracks in south Florida, for which Atwell is accustomed. The tight bullrings are something that Atwell is accustomed to, and that gives him a greater level of comfort as he travels across the country.
“I do think that tracks like Wenatchee are close to my sweet spot, because in south Florida, there are a lot of bullrings with varying banking, so that is obviously where I grew up racing and making laps.”
Atwell will once again be in a Senneker Performance Super Late Model, prepared in the shops of Chris Davidson and Davidson Racing. The Texas based team hosted Atwell’s win in the “Rattler 250” in March and hope to make another run at a big Super Late Model victory with renowned racer Mike Garvey serving as Crew Chief. Atwell is appreciative of their efforts, as well as all those who make the trip possible, as he stated.
“I would really like to thank Chris and Rhonda Davidson, Mike and Lisa Garvey, Davidson Electric, Drake Ready Mix, Tyler Roahrig, Rocket Fabrication and Suspension, Senneker Racecars, and Universal Transmissions for making this event possible.”
The “Wenatchee 200” at the Wenatchee Valley Super-Oval, will pay $25,000 to the winner and $1,500 to start. Lap sponsorship will add to the total purse, in addition to over $2,000 which is up for grabs from additional bonuses such as Fast Time, Hard Charger, and Halfway Leader. The event will see the Super Late Models practice on Friday May 30th, with more practice, Qualifying, the B-Main, and the Feature Event on Saturday. Legends and Thunders will join the Super Late Models in action over the weekend. It will be streamed LIVE on Racing America.
