Spokane, WA - Tacoma, WA racer Max Schroeder will make his first trip to Meridian Speedway (ID) for the ninth running of the “Idaho 208” on August 19th. Round #6 of the Northwest Super Late Model Series presented by RaceCals will pay $10,000 to the winner, on the ¼-mile paved oval, and is one of the richest events on the series 2023 schedule. Schroeder will enter this weekend’s event second in the championship standings behind Haeden Plybon, but only four points ahead of NWSLMS Rookie-of-the-Year point leader Zach Riehl.

Schroeder began his NWSLMS career by winning his first career start at South Sound Speedway (WA), but he has failed to repeat that victory over his last 19 starts. He has come close on multiple occasions, finishing second at Tri-City Raceway at RMEC (WA) in 2023, second at Hermiston Raceway (OR) in 2022, and second at South Sound Speedway in 2021. He tied for second in the championship standings in 2021 and in a tie for the Rookie-of-the-Year Award, losing both in a tiebreaker. Schroeder would love to end his bridesmaid status in 2023, with a win and a championship.

His trip to Meridian Speedway on the 19th could be a golden opportunity to close the gap on championship leader Plybon, with 30 Super Late Models already entered. But he will need to be a quick study of the new track added to his resume.

“I'm excited about learning a new track” Schroeder explained. “I am always looking to learn and add another track to the resume! The competition looks to be fierce, and it'll be a tight field of cars! I've looked up online some footage of the track, and I already have some notes to follow! All in all, I’m very excited!”

Schroeder has accumulated two top-five and four top-10 finishes in NWSLMS competition in 2023. He will seek to improve upon his second place run at Tri-City Raceway, at a facility that be his longest trek of the season. He is thankful for those who make the long-distance trip possible.

“I would like to thank my sponsors for helping me get to this race”, Schroeder stated! “This is the farthest haul for us this season, and it's a long tow! So, thank you to all my sponsors for their support; Zachary Jankleson EXP Reality, Studio17, Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course, Central Welding Supply, and Just KB Media.”

Schroeder will have plenty of competition next weekend, as the entry list hits 30 Super Late Models. Admission Gates for the ninth annual event open at 4:45 PM, with racing scheduled for 6:30 PM. $10,000 is on the line for the featured “Idaho 208” for the Northwest Super Late Model Series. The evening also features the Pepsi Sprint Cars, NW Trucks, Idaho CDL Training Street Stocks, Project Filter Pro 4’s, and the Bandoleros.
