Love made his trip around the half-mile oval in 17.514 seconds, 0.047 quicker than Sammy Smith. Brad May clocked in third-fastest, followed by two-time World Series champion Derek Griffith and Stephen Nasse. A four-car invert for the Super Late Models puts Griffith on the pole for the event.
Nasse originally did not plan to even race Friday night, but showed up for practice and ultimately decided to take part in opening night of the World Series.
Michael Hinde continued his hot start to the 2022 season by setting quick time for the Pro Late Models. Hinde enters the World Series with a win during the Pro Late Model portion of SpeedFest at Crisp Motorsports Park to close out January.
Hunter Wright was second-fastest, followed by William Sawalich, Jett Noland and Conner Jones.
