Keelan Harvick Makes History with Michigan 300 Victory at Owosso

Keelan Harvick won in just his second ASA STARS National Tour start on Wednesday night, claiming the checkered flag in the Michigan 300 at Owosso Speedway.

Harvick took the lead on lap 210 following a restart, pulling ahead of Kyle Steckly. From there, Harvick led the rest of the way for his first ASA STARS National Tour victory.

At 14 years, 1 month and 18 days, Harvick now holds the record for the youngest winner in the history of the ASA STARS National Tour. The record was previously held by Gio Ruggiero, who was 16 years, 8 months and 26 days old when he won at Hickory Motor Speedway during the 2023 season.

"I just can't thank all the fans for coming out. Hunt Brothers Pizza, Toyota, everybody who helps me on this Rackley WAR crew," said Harvick in victory lane. "It wouldn't be possible without all those guys.

"My guys worked really hard to get me here, and I just wanted to bring it home for them."

Harvick's father, former NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, was on hand watching his son make history.

"He did really well," Kevin Harvick said. "Running the high groove like that, we've done that a lot out west this year, pushing the groove up. He did a really good job recognizing that in practice. It changed the whole complexion of qualifying and the things he did there.

"I usually stand back, and these guys do a great job of telling him what he needs to do. When he has questions, I'll answer them. For the most part, I just try to stand back and watch."

After battling with Harvick for much of the race, Steckly settled for a second-place finish.

"Just needed a little bit of turn," said Steckly. "I think we were pretty equal. Just the restart there with the 5 staying out worked better for him. He was able to get ahead of us, obviously, there. We were able to stay with him for a bit on new tires, and I just got too tight behind him.

"Track position was really important. We were kind of just wanting to hold off to the end, and then we lost track position and couldn't get to them. I wish we could have kept throwing some sliders there with about 100 to go when we were right with them and maybe got that track position."

Jade Avedisian finished third, with Carson Brown and Chase Burda rounding out the top five.

The next race for the ASA STARS National Tour is the Carolina 250 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch at Tri-County Motor Speedway on Wednesday, September 9.
