The Road to the Snowball Derby continues this weekend at Five Flags Speedway, with a spectacular doubleheader of racing. Over the course of Friday and Saturday, July 22-23, fans will have the chance to see nearly every division of racing that will be at Five Flags during the 55th Annual Snowball Derby.

Headlining the weekend is the third round of the Deep South Cranes Blizzard Series, the first time back for the Super Late Models since the PepperJack Kennels Twins in April. They will race on Saturday, July 23.

This week’s event will feature the heat-race format that has been utilized once per year at Five Flags in recent years. A series of 10-lap heat races will set the lineup for the 75-lap feature race.

Both the Blizzard Series and the Southern Super Series have tight points battles entering the event. Bubba Pollard is the leader in both, ahead of Hunter Robbins by two points in the Blizzard Series and five points in the Southern Super Series.

Following a disqualification at New Smyrna Speedway two weeks ago, Stephen Nasse is third in SSS points, just 25 markers back.

The Super Late Models will be joined Saturday by the Modifieds of Mayhem, making their second trip of the season to Pensacola. They will close out the 2022 season by crowning their champion during the Snowball Derby weekend on December 2.

As is often the case when the Modifieds come to town, Augie Grill was victorious during the April Modifieds of Mayhem event at Five Flags. Jaxon Bishop currently leads the series points chase, with a win at Crisp Motorsports Park to his credit.

Friday’s racing features the Allen Turner Pro Late Models doing battle for 100 laps on the Pensacola half-mile. The Allen Turner season opened in May, with Hunter Robbins picking up the win ahead of Jake Garcia and Casey Roderick.

Along with the Pro Late Models, Friday’s racing action will include Five Flags’ local Pure Stocks and Outlaws.

Racing will begin at 8 p.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday nights at Five Flags Speedway. Fans unable to attend the doubleheader weekend will be able to watch live on Racing America.
