Taylor Hoar found herself doing double duty in this year’s second segment of the Kulwicki Driver Development Program, racing and serving as a spotter when she wasn’t on the track competing.
Currently fifth in this year’s Kulwicki Driver Development Program competition, Hoar’s racing expertise proved beneficial for two local drivers as the Vermont native walked off with two victories and a second place finish as a spotter.
On the track -- the first Vermont resident in the competition and the daughter of eight-time American-Canadian Tour champion Bian Hoar -- she has produced one top-five and five top-10 finishes in a dozen races at her home track – Thunder Road Speedbowl. She has recorded four consecutive top-10 finishes, including a third in the Squier Cup 100-lap race, and eight heat race victories.
Away from the track, Hoar focuses on several community service projects.

This year, members of Alan Kulwicki’s 1992 NASCAR Cup championship team are mentoring the “Underbirds.” Hoar’s mentor is Joe Covington.
The driver occupying fourth in the standings after the second segment will be announced Wednesday.
