Rattler Purse Increases With Southern Super Series Support
Feb 9, 2022
The Pro Late Model portion of Rattler Weekend at South Alabama Speedway has blossomed into one of the most prestigious events of its kind. The 2022 edition will be the biggest - and richest - ever.
Rock Motorsports and Godfrey Environmental Contracts, LLC. have partnered to announce an additional $1,000 bonus added to the purse, bumping the winner’s share to a potential $7,750.
GEC is also sponsoring the previously announced $500 pole award for the Grasshopper 125 presented by JR’s Lawnmower Shop, and powered by U.S. Tank.
GEC, based in Chipley, Florida, is an environmental rock laying company that operates throughout the South, offering rock, gravel, milled asphalt, and topsoil for driveways and yards.

Pro Late Model teams first hit the track on Friday, March 11 for practice, before taking center stage on Saturday of Rattler Weekend.
Some of the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country, including Stephen Nasse, Michael Hinde, Dylan Fetcho and Jake Garcia, will qualify and race their machines as part of the Saturday card of racing for the 46th Rattler Weekend at South Alabama Speedway. Roadrunner and modified features, in addition to Super Late Model time trials will also be held on Saturday.
“This Rattler is getting bigger every day,” said John Dykes, owner of South Alabama Speedway. “We are very excited to put on the best event we can, and anticipate some great racing all weekend long.”
The racing action begins Friday with late model practice and a full card of local racing, including Mini-Sportsman, Mini-Cup, Cuplite, Coyotes, Street Stocks and Super Stocks.
Sunday’s Hardee’s Rattler 250 is scheduled for a 2 p.m. green flag.
