Garrett Hall scored the first Super Late Model win of 52nd Annual All That's Metal Oxford 250 weekend on Friday night, taking the checkered flag in the Sunoco 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway.
The new addition to the Oxford 250 weekend schedule offered Super Late Model teams a final opportunity for teams to prepare for Sunday's crown jewel event in the heat of competition.
"This car was really good tonight," said Hall in victory lane. "I battled some in practice, so, you know, we just kind of went out in the heat race and thought we had a decent piece. Adjusted on it and just wanted to maintain our track position and keep the car, try to save my tires the best I could."
Earlier this year, Hall snapped a winless drought under the Pro All Stars Series banner dating back to 2022 with a victory at Star Speedway. He backed that up with an incredible last-to-first charge to the win in the Celebration of America 300 at Oxford Plains in July.
Riding a wave of momentum into the weekend, Hall hopes that can continue for at least a couple more nights.
"I've just got to enjoy it while I can. It can end very quickly."
D.J. Shaw is another driver who entered the weekend on a hot streak, winning the last two Super Late Model contests at Oxford Plains. He finished second to Hall on Friday, bouncing back from a disappointing effort in the Yvon Bedard 109 for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour earlier in the evening.
"We had a tough start to the night there, but nothing you can do about it. You've just got to go to work on the next one you have a shot to win. Came home close. We weren't quite as good as we were before, but that 94 was pretty darn good tonight. Proud of them, happy for that team. That's a new car for them here recently, so just keep the Dale Shaw Race Cars wins rolling is fine by me."
After finishing second to Shaw in both of the Super Late Model races earlier in August at Oxford, Austin Teras finished third in Friday's Sunoco 150. He hopes to knock down the door and get into victory lane on Sunday.
"We're knocking on the door," said Teras. "I'm happy to go back to the other car for the next two days. Them guys were really good. We had really good short-run speed, but we lost stability on the long run and just really couldn't make it work. I mean, third from 14th ain't bad, I guess."
Dillon Moltz finished fourth, with Trevor Sanborn rounding out the fop five.
The Oxford 250 weekend continues on Saturday, headlined by the Oxford 125 for the American-Canadian Tour. PASS Super Late Model drivers return to action on Sunday for the All That's Metal Oxford 250. Fans can watch all of the action live on RacingAmerica.TV.
