Five Star Race Car Bodies Presenting Sponsor of Slinger Nationals Broadcast
Jul 10, 2023
NASCAR Cup Series competitor Erik Jones set the fastest time of the day on Monday's practice day for the 44th Annual Slinger Nationals at Slinger Speedway.
Jones clocked in at 11.333 seconds during the final round of practice for the day, jumping to the top of the board. Jones is competing in his fourth Slinger Nationals, and finished second to Matt Kenseth in the historic Super Late Model event in 2016.
2021 Slinger Nationals winner Luke Fenhaus was second-fastest on the day at 11.344 seconds, while two-time Slinger Nationals champion Ty Majeski finished the day in third at 11.374 seconds, a time that was top of the timing sheet until the final round of practice. William Byron joined Jones in the top five, while Jeremy Lepak was fifth-fastest.
Chase Elliott, making his Slinger Nationals debut, was seventh-fastest on the day with a time of 11.392 seconds. Elliott is taking part in the Slinger Nationals for the first time, part of an expanded Super Late Model schedule for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion this year.
While some of the marquee names were quick on practice day, others will be searching for speed when they return to the track on Tuesday. Kenseth, an eight-time Slinger Nationals champion, was 28th in practice results. NASCAR Truck Series veteran Johnny Sauter was 29th.
Full practice results can be viewed below.
