After nearly seven decades of hosting families, fans and racers, the Rockford Speedway, an iconic race track in the world of motorsports, announces the auction of its equipment, assets and memorabilia in an online event set to conclude on June 3, 2024.
Steffes Group, Inc. Representative Lynn Richard detailed the diverse range of items available for bidding, which will be organized across four online rings. Among the offerings are Grandstand Bleachers, Food & Concession Equipment, Track & Shop Equipment, and a vast collection of Rockford Speedway Memorabilia. Over 1,200 lots will be offered via four rings! Everything to the bare ground will be available for bidding.
Tom Deery speaking for the Deery Family expressed the family’s gratitude to the community, the racers and the fans. “For years we have watched the surrounding area evolve into a vibrant retail corridor, the auction is the final step in the Last Lap for Rockford Speedway”. This day has been coming it stings for the thousands of fans and racers who have made Rockford Speedway their “family” for generations. This auction presents an opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire cherished pieces of the Speedway's legacy and continue its story elsewhere.”
Speedway President Susan Deery stated, "We are very proud of the contribution the Speedway has made to the racing industry, as the starting spot for so many in racing and business, and the impact this place has had on the greater state line community."
Interested parties can preview the auction items on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Bidding will commence on Monday, May 27th, with the auction concluding on Monday, June 3rd. Each of the four rings will have staggered closing times.
