After an eye-opening showing in his zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock debut at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, Dylan Fetcho heads to Montgomery Motor Speedway for Saturday's Rumble by the River.
Fetcho, a three-time track champion at Nashville, scored a third-place finish at his home track driving for Mike Darne Racing against the stout field of Late Model Stock competitors in the Tootsie's Music City Showdown. The performance in front of a packed house at the historic fairgrounds track garnered the Lebanon, Tennessee driver plenty of attention, and plans are already in place for him to make another CARS Tour start.
"It was super-cool, super-good for Nashville," Fetcho told Racing America. "I definitely think an event like that will help the track stay where it needs to be. It was just a really big event, and I was thankful to be a part of it.
"It definitely got me a lot of attention. Hopefully, it opened up some eyes for some people. It's already gotten me another race scheduled at Caraway in the Late Model Stock, so it was definitely good for me, good for a lot of people and good for Nashville."
That momentum carries into this weekend, where Fetcho will compete in the ASA Southern Super Series' Rumble by the River at Montgomery. It will be his 16th career start with the Southern Super Series, but his first with the series at the Alabama half-mile.
"I'm feeling pretty good. Montgomery's one of my favorite tracks. I love racing there, actually. I've never been there in a Super though. I'm looking forward to it. It'll be something a little different."
While Fetcho has not raced a Super Late Model at Montgomery, he has turned plenty of laps in a Pro Late Model there. Earlier this year, Fetcho finished second to Jake Finch in the Alabama 200, the track's marquee Pro Late Model showcase.
While it's a contrast from the high banks of Nashville, Fetcho enjoys the flatter racing surface at Montgomery and the emphasis it places on driver ability. He believes that will be at an even larger premium in a Super Late Model this weekend.
"I think it's a driver's kind of a track. It's flat, you've got to use a lot of brake. It's different than most places we go to."
"You've got to be easy on the throttle, of course. You've got a lot more horsepower. That track's very hard on tires, so it's going to be all about saving the right-rear tire, for sure."
Fetcho will be partnering with Mike Shelton for the Rumble by the River, where he hopes to continue his strong 2026 season and compete for a win in Saturday's contest.
"I'm driving for Mike Shelton, it's the car that Isaac Kitzmiller usually drives. They called and wanted me to hop it in, so hopefully we can do good in it. Hopefully, we can get away with a win.
"It's a long race with four tires, 125 laps at Montgomery is going to be hard on them. It's going to be all about staying on that lead lap and saving what you've got for the last 50 laps or so."
The Rumble by the River is the third race of the ASA Southern Super Series season for 2026. The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour powered by Chevrolet Performance will also be in action with a 50-lap feature, as well as Montgomery's Hometown Automotive Solutions Crown Stocks and Shelby Concrete Street Stocks.
Racing begins at 7 p.m. CT/8 p.m. ET from Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 18. Fans can watch Saturday's Rumble by the River live on RacingAmerica.TV.
